Sadness and Joy

Mission 3

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NATURE?
Do you feel sad when you see the destruction of ecosystems or hear about the extinction of species and the degradation of natural landscapes?
Environmental problems in general, and climate change in particular, affect entire communities.
On October 29, 2024, a natural disaster struck Spain, devastating several towns in various regions.
There were moments of great sadness due to the loss of people, homes, schools, and businesses that are the livelihood of many of its inhabitants.
In circumstances like these, many emotions arise, intertwined with one another, and it is easy to camouflage them all behind the word “sadness.”
It is likely that on some occasion when you have felt sadness, it was not really sadness but a mixture of many other emotions.
Write in your notebook about a time when something similar happened to you and analyze what other emotions were present hidden behind the sadness.
If there was one thing everyone agreed on, it was that measures are needed to prevent this from happening again.
It is difficult, because certain decisions can affect nature (diverting the course of rivers, for example), but we must also take into account how many people have been left homeless and if something similar happens again in a few years (which is quite likely), how these communities can be protected.

Caring for the Earth is everyone’s responsibility.
Sometimes it seems that we prefer Wi-Fi to oxygen, but an internet connection will not give us life.
Awareness and, above all, education are essential.
