Anger and Serenity
Mission 4
On your journey through the land of wrath you will meet several interesting characters with whom you can identify yourself mism@ or other people.
You go to a building that you have seen in the distance and on the way you meet a person who seems to have come out of a movie: the Troglodyte, who is the one who explodes aggressively when he gets angry. With this character you have to be careful.
You will have to activate your protection screen and also use the socio-emotional scanner to determine its degree of danger.
We all have a primitive facet necessary for our survival.
The Troglodyte emerges when the brain alerts that there is a threat to survival.
In these cases there is a sequestration of our rational part of homo sapiens and you react as follows:
- You don’t reflect
- You don’t understand
- You don’t analyze
You just get carried away
REMEMBER: <<What begins in anger, ends in shame>> (Benjamin Franklin)
The Troglodyte would not exist if he did not have an emotional garbage can in which to deposit his anger.
When you become an emotional trash can, you are no longer able to defend yourself, so you move into other emotional territories such as sadness, fear, anxiety or depression.
WITH THIS INFORMATION, CONTACT YOUR ASSOCIATION SO THAT THEY CAN ALLOW YOU TO DO A SMALL WORKSHOP WITH CHILDREN WITH TOURETTE’S.
IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT, LIKE YOU, ELL@S HAVE BEEN BULLIED, BEING GARBAGE CANS, AND OTHER TIMES THEY HAVE BEHAVED LIKE TROGLODYTES.
PREPARE THE ACTIVITY WE PROPOSE. YOU CAN ADD SOMETHING OF YOUR OWN CREATION
- INTRODUCTION: START BY TALKING ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A SUPERHERO. ASK CHILDREN WHAT QUALITIES THEY THINK SUPERHEROES HAVE AND HOW THEY CAN APPLY THOSE QUALITIES IN THEIR DAILY LIVES.
2. CHARACTER CREATION: ASK EACH CHILD TO CREATE THEIR OWN SUPERHERO. THEY CAN DRAW THEIR CHARACTER AND GIVE IT A NAME, AS WELL AS DEFINE THEIR SPECIAL POWERS. ENCOURAGE THEM TO THINK OF A POWER THAT HELPS THEM FACE DIFFICULT SITUATIONS, SUCH AS COURAGE, EMPATHY, OR ASSERTIVENESS.
- ROLE-PLAYING: ONCE THEY HAVE CREATED THEIR SUPERHEROES, ORGANIZE A ROLE-PLAYING ACTIVITY WHERE THEY CAN ACT OUT BULLYING SITUATIONS. THEY CAN PRACTICE RESPONDING TO HURTFUL COMMENTS OR CALLING FOR HELP. THIS WILL GIVE THEM TOOLS TO HANDLE THOSE SITUATIONS IN REAL LIFE.
4. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT: AT THE END OF THE ACTIVITY, MAKE A REFLECTION CIRCLE WHERE EACH CHILD SHARES SOMETHING THEY LEARNED OR HOW THEY FELT. IT REINFORCES THE IDEA THAT EVERYONE HAS THE POWER TO BE BRAVE AND TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER.
THIS ACTIVITY NOT ONLY PROVIDES THEM WITH RESOURCES TO DEAL WITH BULLYING, BUT ALSO FOSTERS CREATIVITY AND SELF-CONFIDENCE.
